We’re Looking for Butt Blitz Coordinators Across Ontario

Did you know one million cigarette butts are littered in the City of Toronto daily? The Butt Blitz is a one-day event that focuses on cigarette butt cleanup, recycling, and litter prevention. The goal of the event is to remove as much cigarette butt litter from our streets as possible during a one day Butt Blitz event, and send the butts to TerraCycle Canada for recycling. We also hope to raise awareness of the negative impacts that cigarette butt litter has on ecosystems and health. Last year we picked up over 239,000 butts on event day!

We are looking for volunteer coordinators in Ontario.

Responsibilities include:

  • Attending an online training session in March 2019

  • Choosing a central location for participants to meet you on the date of the event, April 27, 2019

  • Recruiting participants from your neighbourhood to take part in the event

  • Giving instructions and supplies (provided by us) to participants at the event

  • Bringing the collected butts to a designated location or shipping them out (shipping label provided)

  • Speaking with media about the event should the possibility arise

You will receive a coordinator information package with all the materials and information needed for the event. For more information and previous year's results please visit our Butt Blitz Page. To apply please fill out the form below. All applicants must be 19 years or older.

We are hoping to pick up over 300,000 butts this year which will make a huge environmental impact! Your participation will certainly be recognized!
