Each year we embark on an adventure along the shores of Lake Ontario. Starting in Niagara-on-the-Lake we work East towards Kingston, Ontario completing 100 litter cleanups along the way. Volunteers are welcome to join us at our public cleanups, and groups can schedule a date and time to join us for a cleanup in their own community.

NOTICE: We are currently seeking groups that are interested in participating in Love Your Lake 2018 which will run from May 26 - August 25, 2018. Groups can be clubs, community groups, businesses, classes or a group of friends (minimum 5 people). We will set up a date, time, and location that works for your team. Please email info@agreenerfuture.ca to inquire.

Past Projects

We've completed two rounds of our Love Your Lake project and both were completely different experiences. Each time we run the program it's an opportunity for us to learn, grow and make the necessary changes to improve the program. We hope to keep this program going for years to come so we can teach the yonger generations why Lake Ontario is so important!

Love Your Lake 2017

Our second season was a challenge with high water levels causing flooding, erosion, and landslides. Several of our cleanups were cancelled but we still got the job done! We were supported by the Great Lakes Guardian Community Fund and the Honda Canada Foundation. A total of 72,100 pieces of litter were picked up over 8 weeks.

Love Your Lake 2016

This was our first Love Your Lake project funded completely by the Great Lakes Guardian Community Fund. In total we picked up 75,692 pieces of litter from the shores of Lake Ontario over a period of 10 weeks. All 100 events were public which was a big challenge. We learned a lot about scheduling and event planning.
