Role Overview
Role Title: Program Assistant
Wage: $22.00/hour + 4% vacation pay
Benefits: Cell Phone and Travel Stipend
Start Date: April 27, 2026
Duration: 18-week contract (ends August 30, 2026)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Location: Hybrid - Work remotely and on-site in Durham Region, Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, or Hamilton.

What You’ll Do
This role is primarily focused on facilitating outdoor cleanups for our Love Your Lakes program. A small portion of this role will be dedicated to administrative tasks and community outreach, including attending partner events. You'll find a more detailed breakdown of the responsibilities below.
Event Assistance
Organize and lead litter cleanups as part of the Love Your Lakes program.
Recruit, train, and support volunteers to create successful events.
Prepare and manage cleanup equipment, ensuring all materials are available.
Welcome volunteers, explain event goals, and provide on-site leadership.
Collect, record, and analyze data on litter collected at each event.
Educate participants on the connection between waste management, environmental health, and climate change.
Capture photos and videos to highlight program success.
Participate in various community events to provide outreach and recruit potential volunteers.
Administration & Teamwork
Use the Jibble App to log your hours and track activities.
Assist with volunteer registration, data entry, and event reporting.
Maintain communication with team members, providing timely updates.
Attend virtual and in-person meetings to align with organizational goals.

Can navigate event sites independently, using a map or phone coordinates.
Requirements
Must be between 15-30 years old and legally entitled to work in Canada (Canada Summer Jobs program requirement).
Access to a smartphone and a data plan for remote work.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
Access to a vehicle for transportation to and from the lakeshore is an asset.
The role requires availability on evenings and weekends, with your schedule varying week-to-week.
