Toronto Tool Library

192 Spadina Ave. Unit 001, Toronto, ON

Community tool library with affordable memberships, 7-day borrowing, and tools for DIY, repair, and home projects.

About

Toronto Tool Library is a community tool-sharing service that gives members access to a large shared inventory of tools instead of requiring everyone to buy their own. It’s Toronto’s main tool-sharing depot, and membership also includes access to free monthly training events.

How it works

  1. Sign up online for a yearly membership. Currently, membership costs $90 per year.

  2. Reserve tools online and borrow them for up to 7 days.

  3. Use the tools for home repair, maintenance, building, gardening, and other community or personal projects.

  4. Return the tools so they can be maintained and shared with the next member. Toronto Tool Library notes that some tools have small maintenance fees to help keep the collection in good condition.

Why it’s low-waste

Toronto Tool Library makes it possible to borrow the tools you need when you need them, instead of buying equipment that may sit unused for most of the year. By sharing access to drills, saws, ladders, and other specialized tools, it helps reduce unnecessary consumption, saves storage space, and supports a more practical culture of repair, maintenance, and reuse across the city.

Good for
