Cigarette butts are the most littered item in the world—let’s change that together.
This July 5th, we’re proud to participate in No Butts Day, a global initiative led by No Plastic Filter to raise awareness about the environmental impact of cigarette litter. Butts may be small, but their impact is massive—leaching toxic chemicals, harming wildlife, and polluting our water systems.
At A Greener Future, we’ve removed over 1.4 million pieces of litter from the Great Lakes region. On No Butts Day, we’re doubling down on one of the most persistent forms of pollution: cigarette butts. Through our Love Your Lakes program, we’ll be hosting three Lakeside Cleanups and one Canal Cleanup focused on removing toxic tobacco litter and spreading awareness about its harmful effects.
