Circular Economy Month

Every October, Canadians come together to celebrate Circular Economy Month, a national campaign that highlights how we can shift from a traditional “take–make–waste” system toward a more sustainable, circular model. A circular economy keeps materials in use for as long as possible through strategies like reuse, repair, recycling, and redesign, reducing both waste and our demand for new resources. By rethinking how products are made, shared, and consumed, we can lower greenhouse gas emissions, protect ecosystems, and build stronger, more resilient communities.

Throughout the month, individuals, schools, businesses, and municipalities across the country host events and share stories that inspire action. Weekly themes focus on the environmental, social, and economic benefits of circularity, everything from reimagining how we handle food, plastics, textiles, and electronics to exploring ways to share, swap, and repair. The campaign builds on the success of Canada’s long-running Waste Reduction Week and encourages everyone to take practical steps that collectively make a big difference.

At A Greener Future, we’re proud to support Circular Economy Month by hosting cleanups, sharing resources, and sparking conversations about how each of us can take part. Whether you choose to bring items to a repair café, reduce single-use plastics, or join one of our shoreline cleanups, you’re contributing to a healthier environment and a future where nothing goes to waste. Together, we can create a circular economy that works for people and the planet.
