This is it, Toronto.
Join us for Canada’s biggest cigarette litter cleanup – right here in the heart of the city.
On September 20th, A Greener Future is teaming up with UNSMOKE to host a massive cleanup event at Harbourfront Centre as part of a national campaign to collect 1 million cigarette butts in just one month. We’re calling on Torontonians to help us make a visible, unforgettable impact on World Cleanup Day.
Whether you’re an environmentalist, activist, community builder, or someone who just wants to make a difference — this is your moment.
How It Works
Sign up below through our form.
Show up at Harbourfront Centre anytime between 10 AM–2 PM on Sept 20.
Check-in through the link sent to your phone or scan our QR code on site.
Pick up cigarette butts in the surrounding downtown area OR drop off butts you already collected at our collection point — look for the UNSMOKE flags and our epic butt collection display.
Be part of something big. Watch our social media (or the news) to see how we did!
We’ll be tracking how many butts we collect by weight and volume, and we want your contribution counted. Our goal is a national total of 1 million butts in September, and it starts here.
Why It Matters
Cigarette butts are one of the most littered items on Earth — and they’re toxic to our soil, waterways, wildlife, and us. Every butt you pick up helps protect our environment and sends a clear message: We’re done with this kind of pollution.
This event is about more than just cleanup. It’s about community power, environmental action, and proving what’s possible when people come together for a common cause.
