AGF NEWS: Youth-Led Vancouver Nonprofit GreenDispo Donates to A Greener Future to Support Cleanup Efforts Across Canada

NEWS RELEASE
March 4, 2026

A Greener Future is proud to recognize a generous $800 donation from GreenDispo, a youth-led environmental nonprofit based on British Columbia’s North Shore. Founded by four Vancouver teens, GreenDispo launched just over a year ago with a focus on organizing community cleanups and promoting sustainable waste practices. Through their grassroots efforts, the team raised $1,000 and chose to donate $800 of those funds to A Greener Future to expand environmental impact beyond their local community.

In their message to A Greener Future, GreenDispo shared that they were inspired by AGF’s mission and believed their funds could contribute to an even greater overall impact. “It means a lot to us that our missions align and that you see value in the work we do. Your support would directly help us continue delivering free community cleanups and environmental education programs across Canada,” said Rochelle Byrne, the Executive Director at A Greener Future. “It’s so inspiring to see young leaders taking action in their communities.”

Why This Matters

Plastic pollution, litter, and improperly managed waste are some of the most pressing environmental challenges today. This collaboration addresses both the environmental and social impact of waste, helping communities stay cleaner, promoting sustainable habits, and creating opportunities for meaningful engagement in environmental stewardship.

"We started GreenDispo because we wanted to make a difference in our own neighbourhood," says Rayan, co-founder of GreenDispo. "Partnering with A Greener Future allows us to expand our vision and show that even small actions can create a big impact when communities come together."

GreenDispo, founded in March 2025 by high school students Rayan M, Ronny, Rayan F, and Pedram, started as a classroom project sparked by concern over excessive litter in their neighbourhood. What began with a goal to raise $1,000 has evolved into an active nonprofit organizing cleanups, educating children in daycare about waste reduction, and raising awareness about sustainability in Vancouver. On a day-to-day basis, the team coordinates volunteers, plans cleanup events, and manages outreach. Building environmental awareness while strengthening youth engagement in climate action.

Both organizations prioritize measurable action to better understand what is polluting communities and how to address it effectively. By supporting A Greener Future’s work, GreenDispo is helping extend the reach of evidence-based environmental programming beyond provincial boundaries.

This generous contribution reflects a powerful message: local action can fuel national impact. When youth-led initiatives and environmental organizations recognize shared goals, communities across Canada benefit.

Opportunities for Public Participation

Residents and community members can participate by joining cleanup events hosted in both Ontario (GTHA) and B.C (Vancouver), volunteering for educational programs, or supporting local sustainability campaigns. By working together, communities can collectively reduce litter, improve local green spaces, and adopt more sustainable daily practices. Together, these actions contribute to cleaner neighbourhoods and a healthier environment from coast to coast.
