Canada – We’re excited to announce that the UNSMOKE Butt Blitz is returning this April—and it’s bigger than ever! Powered by a national partnership between A Greener Future and Unsmoke Canada, this year’s campaign sets out to collect 1 million cigarette butts in April, followed by another 500,000 in September through community-led events across Canada.

Since 2015, the Butt Blitz has mobilized thousands of volunteers and removed over 5.1 million cigarette butts from the environment. This toxic litter poses serious risks to wildlife, ecosystems, and even public safety—but together, we can make a difference. Let’s clean up Canada—one butt at a time.

LONDON, ON— A Greener Future is launching a Community Butt Recycling Program, a brand-new initiative, on August 13th, 2022. Known for leading impactful Butt Blitz cleanups where they collect cigarette butt litter, this new program continues these efforts while also preventing cigarette waste from ending up in the environment.

OSHAWA, ON. – A Greener Future, an Ontario-based non-profit organization, is midway through its annual Butt Blitz program focused on the cleanup of littered cigarette butts across Canada. The Butt Blitz has been running each spring since 2015 and has resulted in over 1.5 million cigarette butts being removed from the environment and sent to TerraCycle for recycling.
