The Town of Cobourg invites all community members to participate in a litter cleanup and Butt Blitz on Sunday, April 21, to kick off the Mayors’ ‘Keep the County Clean’ challenge which will run from April 22-28.
This year, Mayor Cleveland will be kicking off the challenge early on Sunday, April 21, partnering with Greener Future and Sustainable Cobourg.
A Greener Future will be focusing its efforts on picking up cigarette butts by conducting a “Butt Blitz” at Cobourg’s beautiful waterfront on Sunday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants are asked to meet at the Cobourg Marina (103 Third Street) and will be provided with supplies and equipment.
Sustainable Cobourg will be focusing its cleanup efforts in Peace Park (175 Forth Street) and invites anyone interested to join them on Sunday, April 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Mayors’ ‘Keep the County Clean’ is an annual Northumberland County event, during the week of Earth Day, that encourages community members to choose an area of town to clean and help collect litter for pickup. Local groups and individuals volunteer to clean up public areas (parks, roadsides, etc.).
